Dear Abby,
I know it's still early, but I'm already dreading holiday shopping this year. I can't even think about gearing up to do it this year so I'm willing to try the Internet way. I have four grandchildren, ages 2, 5, 8 and 10. Where can I find good quality toys without spending a fortune? And how do I know what they will like?

Dear Elaine,
Wow, my sister is really jealous that you live in Minneapolis. Not only is it much cooler than where we live - but you also have that huge Mall of America right in your hometown.
I can sympathize with you on the holiday shopping. Ten mules couldn't drag me to the mall anytime after the first of November each year.
I've bought all my children's gifts online for the past three years. If you start now and shop around you should be able to find some great bargains. I always look for shopping sites that have shopper feedback. One of my all-time favorites is Toys & Games at Amazon.com
Products are broken down into age groups to help you know what's appropriate for each child. The descriptions are excellent and include feedback from customers. Once you sign up as a customer you get notified of special discounts on products and shipping. I've always ordered sale items and managed to get free shipping most of the time.
Amazon has toys at fabulous clearance prices all year long. I check often to see what's new and usually have all my toys/games for the holidays purchased by the end of the summer. It really cuts down on the stress and I save lots of $$$. To see what's on sale today - click on the banner below then type "clearance" the search box on the Amazon page.
NOTE: Be sure to watch the star ratings on each item and take time to read the customer reviews. No one likes everything they buy so there will be some negative reviews on almost every item. Just weigh those with the other comments and you should get a good idea of the quality of the toy. --- Abby |
